IRS 50572: Railway applications - Wagons composed of permanently coupled units (multiple wagons) and articulated wagons
IRS 50572 governs the technical integration of permanently coupled and articulated units. It addresses the mechanical and structural requirements necessary for coupling permanently coupled wagons, and the regulations concerning the equipment of articulation for articulated wagons. By regulating how these units interact, UIC seeks to minimise the possibility of accidents and, particularly in the case of articulated wagons, to minimise wear and tear and maintenance costs.
