The German Federal Government is investing 370 million euros to upgrade the rail freight line from Hoyerswerda to the German-Polish border via Horka. The international rail route will be upgraded to a double-track and electrified railway line. The total investment made by the Federal Government and Deutsche Bahn comes to 420 million euros. Work will start in 2012 and should be completed by the end of 2016.
The agreement to fund this upgrade project was signed between the German Ministry of Transport, Construction and Urban Development, and the railway company Deutsche Bahn.
