First Industry Conference on UN Security Council resolution 1540 (Wiesbaden, 23-25 April 2012)

On 23 Avril 2012, Jacques Colliard, Manager of the Security Division represented the UIC for the First Industry Conference on UN Security Council resolution 1540, held in Wiesbaden from 23 to 25 April 2012.

The conference was organized by the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) in cooperation with the Government of Germany with funding from the Governments of Norway, the United States and the European Union.
The purpose of the conference was to discuss conditions for cooperation between industry and transport sectors and States, in order help the latter reinforce controls required to avoid the proliferation of chemical or nuclear products which could be used as arms or as a threat.

Alongside other international organisations, Jacques Colliard presented the role played by UIC in research projects and the work it carries out in the field of security. Conditions for a future partnership with UNODA (United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs) on this sensitive subject are currently under discussion.
