The 4th edition of the Next Station International Conference will be held in Kazansky railway station in Moscow from 17 – 18 October 2013.
UIC and Russian Railways, RJD, will be organising the 4th Next Station International Conference. The first three events (2005, 2007 and 2011) took place in Rome, Paris and Brussels and were hugely successful.
Next Station is a worldwide meeting place for station managers, service providers, project developers, research agencies, specialised journalists – in short, anyone who has anything at all to do with stations. It provides the perfect opportunity to closely monitor new developments within the sphere of railway stations and obtain knowledge about contemporary themes such as the station of the future, opening stations up to new operators, new developments within the realm of service provision and intermodality, urban planning developments in station areas, economic models for stations and sustainability...
Railway stations are usually considered from three perspectives: customer access to trains; business opportunities due to a high concentration of people every day; and interaction with the city and society.
As part of this approach, the UIC Station Managers’ Global Group (SMGG), led by Mr Carlos Ventura (Adif, Spain), has been undertaking work since 2005. One of the most representative actions of this working group is the organisation of the Next Station Conference.
The main features of this conference are:
- Estimated number of participants: 400
- Venue: Kazansky station, Moscow
- Stand exhibition in the main hall of the station
- Event structure: 2 plenary sessions (opening and closing), 2 round tables, 4 parallel sessions and technical visits to railway terminals in Moscow
- Registration: 16 October 2013 from 8pm to 10pm during the Welcome Cocktail
- Working languages: English and Russian.
Additional booths for simultaneous translation into other languages can be provided on demand. Translation services for languages other than English and Russian should be provided and funded by the interested party.
Two committees are to be established for the organisation of the Conference: an Honorary Committee and an Organising-Scientific Committee (Conference Team).
The Conference’s communication plan will be discussed in a separate meeting on 6 March 2013 at 10am in Moscow.
The next meeting on the preparation of the event will be held on 18 March 2013 in Paris.
