New MERITS Training in Zagreb

The new MERITS training session was held in Zagreb on 27 and 28 May, with HZ having kindly offered to host the meeting at its headquarters premises.
The training was followed by 10 participants representing TCCD, HZ and CFR and performed by HaCon, the German-based company that is developing the new MERITS.
This training was dedicated specially to MERITS members who are using editing tools to provide their timetable and station data. The new MERITS features a web interface, the “DSU workspace”, which will replace all the functionalities of these tools and will provide new ones, taking advantage of what web technology can offer. For example train services and stations will be able to be updated, created and deleted online by DSU (data supplier) staff.

The management of reference data for:

  • Tariff and pricing modes
  • Extra services
  • Facility descriptions
  • Reservation details
will be done by UIC with a specific “administrator” web interface, and consulted and used directly through each member workspace.

A session of practices and exercises was conducted to give participants a good understanding of the data editing and a chance to raise questions about the difficulties they would encounter during the maintenance of their train services and station data.
In the future, dedicated training could be given by the UIC MERITS experts at the request of newcomers or DSU who were not able to participate in the proposed training sessions.
