A delegation of 25 students from Southwest Jiaotong University (University of Transport) based in Chengdu, south-west China, came to France on a study trip and visited UIC on 18 September 2014. Led by Hu Wei, Director, Lianshan Yan, Director of the School of Information Science and Technology, and Xu Junhua, International Student Coordinator, the delegation took stock of the latest news concerning the UIC passenger activities under Inaki Barron, Marc Guigon, head of the IT Passenger project and Michel Leboeuf, Chairman of the UIC Intercity and High Speed Committee. The delegation also took note of updates concerning the Fundamental Values Department, with particular emphasis on the training programme conducted under Jerzy Wisniewski, and finally forthcoming conferences such as the third workshop on Control Command and Signalling (CCS) in Tokyo on 24 October, coordinated by Vincent Vu on behalf of the Asia-Pacific region.

The cooperation agreement, signed in 2010 between SWJTU and UIC, aims to boost student exchange and participation in both academic activities and technical projects with one of the oldest Chinese engineering universities based in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, the soon-to-be largest rail transport and logistics centre in West China.
