The topping-out ceremony for the new multi-function warehouse of CFL multimodal was held on 7 July 2016 at the Eurohub-South logistics park in Dudelange, Luxembourg, in the presence of Mr François Bausch, Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure.
Nine months after breaking ground, CFL Freight celebrated the topping-out ceremony for the new multi-function warehouse of CFL multimodal. Among the guests were Mr François Bausch, Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure. and Mr Dan Biancalana, Mayor of the City of Dudelange, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Economy and employees from the companies that have been working on this facility since November 2015.
For the construction, the warehouse was divided into three big areas that are being built sequentially. More than 100,000 tonnes of backfill were used. The reinforced concrete structure, with columns of up to 19.3 metres high and beams of up to 34 metres long, was erected within a three month time period. The complete shell construction phase was concluded in five months and interior work started as early as April. The completion of the warehouse, which 100 people have contributed to so far, is on schedule for the end of 2016.
The new warehouse has a 30,000 m2 surface as well as 64 loading docks and is divided into different warehouse zones: high-rack storage, roll storage, block storage, hothouse – up to +75°C, tire storage, picking & packing space, cold storage – up to +5°C, freezer storage – up to -23°C.
The logistics park will be connected to the new intermodal terminal Bettembourg-Dudelange, which will become operational at the end of this year.
By 2025, approximately 200 people from CFL multimodal Group will be based at the logistics park. “We are investing 34 million euros in this state-of-the-art warehouse in order to offer our customers high quality services in the future", said Fraenz Benoy, Managing Director of CFL multimodal.
