Fresh success on European mainland
15-year contract awarded for “Northern Lines”
Includes cross-border services to Lower Saxony
(Berlin, 12 July 2017) DB Arriva will continue to operate regional rail services in the northern Netherlands for a further 15 years. Arriva (DB’s subsidiary for passenger services abroad) has won an open tender for Groningen and Friesland. The contract is worth 1.6 billion euros and includes cross-border services to Lower Saxony in Germany. DB Arriva has operated the “Northern Lines” since 2005, carrying approximately 11.7 million passengers yearly. The new contract runs from 2020 to 2035.
