Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, UIC has continued to provide value for its members around the world by using technology rather than travel to reach out to members, inform them of UIC’s activities and provide additional assistance in specific areas of interest.
On 9 September, Australian members once again met with UIC experts online to discuss specific UIC initiatives. This was the fourth meeting of members in 2021 and was a huge success, leaving participants keen to know more. The focus of the September meeting was safety, and members learned about the UIC Safety Database of safety statistics, as well as level crossing safety, which is of particular interest to Australian members. The meeting also featured a presentation on human factors and safety culture. Members were very grateful for the efforts of Frédéric Hénon, UIC Head of Safety, and his team: Olivier Georger, Isabelle Fonverne and Virginie Papillaut, who all gave their time to support the session.
The next UIC Pacific meeting is planned for January 2022, with a focus on ETCS and FRMCS.
